NALSAR UNIVERSITY of Law, established under the Andhra Pradesh Act 34 of 1998, is a body corporate . It is a fully residential university engaged in teaching and promoting research in law and allied disciplines. The University campus is located on a sprawling 55-acre site about 28 kilometers from Hyderabad Airport. Its city centre is located in Barkatpura, Hyderabad.
From 2008, NALSAR along with 6 other top law schools will be conducting a common law admission test.
The Admission formalities are usually completed by end of June and classes begin by 1st July each year.
Undergraduate Degree Programme : 5-year B.A., B.L. (Hons.) Degree Programme
Eligibility : The student should have completed 10+2 secondary school examination or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks. All Students taking qualifying examination in March/April of the year of the ENTRANCE TEST are also eligible to apply.
The student should be below 20 years of age as on July 01 of the year in which he is seeking admission(22 years in case of SC/ST candidates).
Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying examination can also appear for the test on condition that they produce proof of having passed the qualifying examination with the prescribed marks at the time of interview. Students who are unable to clear the qualifying examination with the requisite marks or obtain a pass in compartment will not be considered.
Only those candidates who secure the minimum prescribed marks at the Entrance Test will qualify for inclusion in the merit list.
Intake and Reservation: The intake is 80 with reservation of 15% for SC and 7 ½% for ST candidates. Financial assistance /fee waiver / Scholarship is available in deserving cases. Admissions are based purely on merit.
i) 60 students to be admitted on the basis of entrance test with the following reservations:
Scheduled Caste 15% (9 seats)
Scheduled Tribe 7 1/2 % (4 seats)
Women
30% (18 seats Horizontal)
20 seats are separately allotted for Foreign Nationals on Direct Admission basis.
ii) The unfilled seats reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates shall be assigned to Scheduled Tribe candidates and vice-versa. If sufficient eligible SC and ST candidates are not available to fill such seats, they shall be reallocated to the General candidates in the same order of merit.
iii) NALSAR reserves the right to keep seats vacant if there are no candidates securing minimum prescribed qualifying marks at the Entrance Test.
NRI Students [ DIRECT ADMISSION]: The admission of Foreign nationals shall be made on the basis of prescribed academic qualification and an interview. If there are any vacancies these will be filled by the General candidates in the same order of merit. Applications for admission to these seats can be made only after declaration of the qualifying exam result.
