National Institute of Technology (NIT) Surathkal is one of the best engineering colleges in India. The college was established in 1960 as a joint venture between Government of India and Government of Karnataka. The college was earlier known as Karnataka Regional Engineering College. In 2002, the college was accorded the status of Deemed University and was renamed as National Institute of Technology Surathkal.
NIT Surathkal offers 4-year B. Tech programs in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering , Chemical Engineering, Electronics & Communications Engineering, Mining Engineering, Computer Engineering & Information technology. Admissions to B. Tech programs are made on the basis of performance in AIEEE.
NIT Surathkal offers 2-year M. Tech programs in Industrial Structures, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Systems Engineering, Marine Structures, Hydraulics & Water Resources Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Digital Electronics and Advanced Communication, Microelectronics, Chemical Plant Design, Industrial Pollution Control, and Metallurgical & Materials Engineering. Admissions to M. Tech programs are made on the basis of performance in GATE.
